‘IEAT’ appreciates Japanese investors’ interest in Smart Park Industrial Estate Supporting clean energy projects in the EEC


On May 28, 2021, Mr. Weeris Amrapal, Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand. (IEAT) disclosed after discussion with representatives of Toyota Daihatsu Engineering and Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TDEM), Toyota Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd.,  Kansai Electric Power Corporation, Kansai Energy Solutions (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Toyota Tsusho M&E (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Osaka Gas Co.,Limited under the coordination of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.

Many Japanese companies are interested in investing in the Smart Park Industrial Estate, Map Ta Phut Subdistrict, Rayong Province, especially setting up factories that are involved in electricity generation using alternative energy such as solar energy and energy from hydrogen

The Ministry of METI and the IEAT will set up one committee to study carbon neutrality, namely reducing net carbon neutral industrial estate (Carbon Neutral Industrial Estate) through the use of clean energy technology. And bring hydrogen energy to be used instead It is expected to begin a preliminary feasibility study within this year.

The meeting had a joint discussion on a project to promote the use of alternative energy. Or clean energy in the Eastern Special Development Zone (EEC), both in terms of studying technology that uses clean energy By bringing hydrogen energy into use And to study the development of investments in solar power business projects and other forms of renewable energy In the EEC area as well.

The global focus is on reducing net carbon emissions to zero, with Japan recently announcing Carbon Neutral by 2050, reducing net carbon emissions to zero.    By 2050, the Thai and Japanese governments have made it a priority to upgrade the country into a zero-carbon emission country.
